ALPENA, MI – Three men from the Detroit area were arrested on Monday October 26th, 2020, following a dangerous police chase that began with them attempting to have fake prescriptions filled.

Deputies with the Alpena County Sheriff’s Department responded to the LaFave Pharmacy on Chisholm Street, at about 6:30 p.m., on a report of someone trying to pass a fraudulent prescription. Three individuals in a silver Cadillac fled the scene when deputies arrived.

Deputies from the Alpena County Sheriff’s Department gave chase. The vehicle was being driven very erratically when they fled east on Chisholm Street.

The driver of the Cadillac ignored traffic signals, drove into oncoming traffic, and was involved in a crash at the intersection of 9th Avenue and Chisholm. Continuing on Chisholm after the crash, the Cadillac drove up on curbs, almost hitting pedestrians, police reported.

The vehicle was finally brought to a stop when it hit trees near the corner of 7th Avenue and Chisholm Street.

Two of the men attempted to flee on foot but were arrested a short time later. The third person fled the scene and was found north on Chisholm Street near the Wendy’s restaurant.

All three suspects are in the Alpena County Jail and are awaiting arraignment on numerous charges.
