MONTEREY TOWNSHIP, MI – Just before midnight on Monday November 2nd, 2020, Allegan Central Dispatch received a call of a shooting incident at a residence near 130th Ave. and 30th St. in Monterey Township. 

Allegan County Sheriff Department Officers arrived a short time later and were advised by subjects at the home that an individual who had been visiting had shot one of residents outside and then fled the area. 

Upon arrival officers found one man lying in the driveway that had sustained a possible gunshot wound and had suffered obvious fatal injuries. 

Information was obtained regarding a possible suspect and suspect vehicle that was put out to other agencies in the area to look for the suspect.  At this time the suspect has not been located and efforts are continuing to try to locate this person.

This is an ongoing investigation and are very early in the process of completing that.  It does not appear at this time that the general public is in any danger; however, they are actively trying to locate the suspect that was identified.  Further information regarding the victim and suspect will be released as it becomes available.

The Allegan County Sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police, Gun Lake Tribal Police, Hopkins Area Fire Dept. and Wayland Area EMS.
