15 yr old Driver Critical after Crashing Vehicle in Missaukee County

REEDER TOWNSHIP, MI – On Thursday, November 5th, 2020, at approximately 9:05 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Houghton Lake Post were dispatched to a single vehicle rollover crash. The crash occurred on Kelly Road near Forward Road in Reeder Township. The driver was a 15-year-old boy from Lake City.

The vehicle was traveling westbound on Kelly Road near Forward Road in a Kia SUV and lost control. The vehicle left the roadway to the left and skidded into the ditch causing the vehicle to overturn multiple times. The driver was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. Missaukee EMS responded to the scene. Due to his life-threatening injuries, the driver was taken to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. He is currently listed in critical condition.

The driver was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and speed is believed to be a factor. There were no other occupants in the vehicle. The crash is still under investigation.

The MSP Houghton Lake Post was assisted by the Missaukee County Sheriff’s Office and the Clam Union Township Fire Department.
