TROY, MI – We all hope that we can get along with our neighbors but that was not the case when a man and his wife were assaulted by their neighbor on November 3rd, 2020.
At approximately 1:28pm, Troy Police Officers responded the 6000 block of Montclair concerning an argument between neighbors over an ongoing property line dispute.
The man and woman, who are husband and wife, the victims, stated a verbal argument began after a 58-year-old man, who lives next door, started yelling at the woman. In the course of the argument, the husband threw a no trespassing sign, a 6’ metal stake, and a small wooden cutout that the suspect had placed onto the victim’s property back into the suspects yard.
The suspect then picked up the wooden cutout and began pushing it into the man’s stomach. The male victim was able to take hold of the cutout at which point the suspect picked up the 6’ metal stake and began swinging it at the couple. The suspect struck the woman in the left wrist and thumb. The suspect also struck and put a hole through the wooden cutout her husband was holding. The suspect then dropped the stake while the verbal argument continued.
Video obtained by the woman shows both men arguing while the suspect spits at and throws a cigarette at the other man. The suspect was placed under arrest for felonious assault and transported to the Troy Police Lock-up facility.
