ALPENA, MI – Due to the surge of the COVID-19 virus, the Alpena County Sheriff’s Office will be closing to the public all pistol purchase permits, sex offender registration updates and all fingerprinting indefinitely.

The lobby will remain open for individuals wishing to post bonds or deposit funds into an inmate’s account using the kiosk located there. MASKS ARE REQUIRED TO BE WORN WHEN ENTERING THE LOBBY. The Sheriff will continue to monitor information released by the CDC as well as State and Local Health Officials to determine when it will be safe to re-open these services to the public.

Pistol sales records and licenses to purchase can be mailed when they are
completed, and the gun has been purchased. Mailings should be addressed
to:

Alpena County Sheriff’s Office
320 Johnson Street
