DETROIT, MI – Jason Mikel Craighead, 42-years-old, of Detroit, has been formally charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Catrina Griffin.
He was just released from prison in April of 2020.
On November 11th, 2020 at approximately 10:56 p.m., Detroit Police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 18500 block of Heyden in response to a 911 call about a shooting. Upon arrival, the officers located the victim inside the location, suffering from an obvious gunshot wound. Medics arrived on the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment, where she succumbed to her injuries.
It is alleged that an argument occurred between the defendant and the victim. It is further alleged that as the argument escalated, the defendant pulled a firearm and fired it, fatally striking the victim.
Craighead has been charged with First Degree Murder, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Felony Firearm. The defendant was been arraigned and remanded to jail. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for November 24, 2020 in 36th District Court.
