United States Postal Service Truck Driver Killed in Monroe County Vehicle Crash

MILAN TOWNSHIP, MI – On Thursday, November 19th, 2020, at approximately 5:28 p.m., troopers from the Monroe Post were dispatched to a personal injury crash on Ann Arbor Road near the intersection of Ostrander Road in Milan Twp.

From evidence on scene, the following was determined: a black in color Camaro driven by a 19- year-old man from Monroe was traveling southbound on Ann Arbor Road approaching Ostrander Road when it collided with a United States Postal Service truck.  It was determined the postal truck was turning onto Ann Arbor Road from Ostrander Road when it was struck by the black Camaro.

The 69-year-old man who was the driver of the postal truck was from Ohio. He suffered fatal injuries resulting from the crash despite attempts to revive him by citizens and first responders.  

The 19-year-old driver of the Camaro was transported to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital with minor injuries. No other vehicles were involved in the incident and there were no other occupants of either vehicle. Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.

Troopers on scene were assisted by the Michigan State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit, the Milan Township Fire Department, Monroe Community Ambulance, and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department.
