23 mile road fatal crash

CHESTERFIELD, MI – Two young lives were lost in a fatal traffic crash on 23 Mile Rd near Seaden Dr. The victims were just 21 and 22-years old.

Last evening, Wednesday November 25, 2020, at 8:53 PM, Chesterfield Township Police and Fire Rescue were dispatched to 23 Mile Rd west of Seaden Dr for a serious traffic crash.

The police found a heavily damaged 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 and a heavily damaged 2005 Cadillac CTS-V, along with crash debris blocking all lanes of 23 Mile Rd.

Weather conditions at the time of the crash was light rain with a wet roadway. 23 Mile Rd was closed completely for over three hours for the crash investigation. The Chesterfield Police Crash Investigators determined that the Cadillac lost control on westbound 23 Mile Rd, crossed over the center turn lane and collided with the Dodge, which was eastbound on 23 Mile Rd.

The driver of the Cadillac was 21-year-old David Vasilevski, of Chesterfield Township and his passenger was 22-year-old Ashley Machuta of New Baltimore. Both were declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the Dodge was a 19-year-old Macomb Township man. He was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.

This fatal traffic crash will continue to be investigated. It is unknown at this time if speed or alcohol were involved.
