GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Troopers from the Michigan State Police Rockford Post are investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred on Sunday November 29th, 2020, at 6:30PM at the intersection of E. Fulton St. (M-21 Hwy) and Bridgestone Drive in Grand Rapids Township.
The preliminary investigation shows a Honda Accord driven by a 64-year-old man from Grand Rapids, attempted to turn left onto E. Fulton St. from Bridgestone Dr. The Honda Accord failed to yield to a Chevrolet Malibu traveling west on E. Fulton St driven by a 16-year-old female from East Grand Rapids. The driver of the Honda Accord was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver in the Chevrolet Malibu was not injured in the crash.
There were no passengers in either vehicle. Witnesses of the crash provided similar accounts. Alcohol, drugs, speed, and cell phone use do not appear to be a factors in the crash. The crash is still under investigation.
Michigan State Police Rockford Post personnel were assisted on scene by Kent County Sheriff’s Department, Grand Rapids Township Fire Department, Rockford Ambulance, and the Kent County Road Commission. Special thanks to several good Samaritans who provided medical aid prior to the arrival of first responders.
