DETROIT, MI – John E. Baldwin, 43-years-old, has been charged in connection with the homicide of Sarita Rebekah Neal, 41-years-old, both of Detroit.
On November 13th, 2020, at approximately 11:18 a.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to the area of Lappin Street and Schoenherr Road where they found the lifeless body of a woman lying in an alley. The woman was later identified as Sarita Neal. She was transported to the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office where it was determined that she died from a single gunshot wound to the head.
On November 25th, 2020, after an extensive investigation, the Detroit Police Department arrested John Baldwin for the murder of Sarita Neal.
On November 13th, 2020, John Baldwin and Sarita Neal were acquainted, and it is alleged that he fatally shot her, drove her in a car, and left her remains in the alley near Lappin Street and Schoenherr Road. He later set the car on fire at another location.
More specific facts and evidence will be presented in court at the preliminary examination.

He was arraigned over the weekend in 34th District Court in Romulus. His Probable Cause Conference is on December 9, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. and his Preliminary Examination is on December 16, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. in 36th District Court.
