DETROIT, MI – Three people are dead today because a person who thought it was a good idea to get behind the wheel of a car that could travel easily at high rates of speed and after having consumed alcohol, did not consider the tragic outcome from their decisions.
On December 14th, 2020, at approximately 1:50 AM, Michigan State Police troopers were dispatched to eastbound I-94 and Outer Drive for a traffic crash.
The preliminary investigation determined that a Chevrolet Camaro was being driven at a high rate of speed on eastbound I-94 near Outer Dr.
The 39 year old male driver of the Camaro struck the rear end of a Mercury SUV that was also eastbound. The driver of the Camaro has a 38 year old female passenger. The 61-year-old driver of the Mercury SUV had no passengers in his vehicle. He was the lone occupant.
All three were transported to Ascension Hospital were they were pronounced dead upon arrival.
The freeway was closed eastbound on I-94 at Chalmers and Outer Dr until 4:55 AM. Excessive speed and alcohol are contributing factors in this crash. Pends medical examiner reports and further investigation.
