PONTIAC, MI – On Sunday December 13th, 2020, Oakland County Sheriff Deputies and Star EMS responded to the Phoenix Place Apartments located at 47251 Woodward Avenue on the report of a security guard who had been knocked out conscious by a person wielding a hammer at the victim.
The caller reported the victim, a 34-year-old man who resides in West Bloomfield Township, was in and out of consciousness and needed immediate medical assistance. The caller gave a description of the person who was responsible for the attack and that this person had fled the scene in a GMC Jimmy.
Responding Deputies located the vehicle in the area and began to follow it. The suspect lost control of the vehicle at Woodward Avenue and Pike Street where they struck a stop sign. The suspect was immediately taken into custody.
Other Sheriff Deputies arrived at the scene of the assault. The victim was located lying in a pool of blood and was unresponsive lying on the sidewalk outside of the apartment’s main entrance. Deputies began to render life-saving measures. Paramedics from Star EMS arrived on scene and took over rendering life saving measures to the victim.
He was initially transported by paramedics from Star EMS to McLaren Oakland Hospital. He was then transferred to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital. Currently the victim is listed in critical condition.
Detectives and the OCSO Forensic Science Laboratory arrived on scene and began their investigations. The 34-year-old man from Pontiac was lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending the issuance of charges. The incident remains under investigation. The hammer used in the attack was recovered by Deputies.
This is a second incident that has recently taken place at the very same apartment complex. On October 24th of 2020, an argument between neighbors ended with a woman being stabbed no less than four times. The victims sister reported that it was a domestic violence incident. The woman did survive her injuries.
