ORION TOWNSHIP, MI – A woman is in the hospital fighting for her life because she is in critical condition after suffering a brutal attack from the father of her 3 month old child.
On December 12th, 2020, Oakland County Sheriff Deputies assigned to the Orion Township Substation responded to a call in the 4700 block of Georgia Drive for a report of a severely injured woman.
The injured woman walked to a neighbor’s house seeking help for her severe injuries and told them her three-month-old infant had been taken by the child’s father after she was attacked and beaten in the residence. The victim was suffering from multiple broken orbital and facial bones during the attack and was transported to a local hospital. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was airlifted to University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor and remains in critical condition.
Detectives are still unable to speak with her at this time due to her injuries. The infant had been dropped off by the suspect to his mother’s residence and was unharmed.
The suspect in the attack was identified as Christian Depaul Roberson, a 31-year-old man who resides in Orion Township.
Deputies and Detectives began their investigation in trying to locate Roberson. Soon after the attack, Christian Roberson began posting on social media that he was remorseful and was suicidal. It was discovered he was driving in a black 2018 Cadillac XT5 and bulletins were sent out to surrounding police agencies to be on the lookout for Roberson.
On December 14th, 2020, the Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Team located and arrested Christian Roberson in the City of Pontiac. Roberson was arraigned on December 15th, 2020, in front of Magistrate Marie Soma of 52-3 District Court.
He has been charged with one count of Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm Less Than Murder or by Strangulation – 10-year Felony. Roberson was given a $300,000 cash bond, no 10%. If Roberson is bonded out, a GPS Tether must be worn. His next court date will be at 52-3 District Court on December 22nd, 2020, at 2pm. He has no prior criminal history.
