WEXFORD COUNTY, MI – Troopers from the Cadillac Post collaborated statewide to locate a 1-year-old girl who had been abducted from downstate. The child was found unharmed and returned to her father. The two suspects were arrested.
On Friday December 18th, 2020, at approximately 8:00 PM, troopers from the Michigan State Police Cadillac Post were called to assist officers from the THree Rivers Police Department with a paternal abduction case where a father had reported his 1-year-old daughter had been abducted by the child’s mother and her husband.
Through the ensuing investigation, detectives were able to track the suspects from downstate to an address in the City of Cadillac. Officers were able to locate the kidnapped child and take the suspects into custody. Two children were found unharmed inside of the home. The abducted 1-year-old girl was returned to her father and a 5-year-old boy was turned over to family members.
The suspects, a 30-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man from Three Rivers were both wanted on felony kidnapping charges out of Three Rivers. They were both arrested and lodged in the Wexford County Jail pending their transfer back downstate.
The investigation was a collaborative effort between Michigan State Police 5th District Technical Services Unit, MSP Cadillac Post, MSP Seventh District Fugitive Team, City of Cadillac Police, and MDHS, Children’s Protective Services. Officers were also aided by M42 Manton Towing which offered significant assistance leading to a successful outcome.
