CHEBOYGAN COUNTY, MI. On Saturday, December 19, 2020, at approximately 8:11 p.m., a trooper from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Gaylord Post was dispatched to a truck in the ditch on South Straits Highway near Shire Road in Wilmot Township.
The driver, 36-year-old Adam Robert Willis, of Indian River, was visibly intoxicated. He was using the vehicle to steady himself as the trooper spoke with him. Willis was unable to perform sobriety tests and refused a breath test. A search warrant was drafted for a blood draw. Willis attempted to assault the trooper, correction officers at the Cheboygan County Jail, and the Phlebotomist as she was attempting to draw a blood sample.
Adam Willis was lodged in the Cheboygan County Jail. He was arraigned in the 89th District Court in Cheboygan County for one count Felony Operating While Intoxicated Third Offense, nine counts Resisting and Obstructing Police, one count Driving While License Suspended Second or Subsequent Offense, one count No Security/Insurance, one count Unregistered Vehicle, and one count Unlawful Use of Registration Plate.
His bond was set at $50,000 cash surety. His next scheduled court appearance is on January 8th, 2021.
