PONTIAC, MI – Two male subjects, a 21-year-old man from Rochester Hills and an 18-year-old man from Sterling Heights, were shot and injured at about 1:14AM on Sunday January 3rd, 2021 in the City of Pontiac.
Oakland County Sheriff Deputies and Star EMS responded to the area of Jacokes and Lafayette Streets on the report of 2 gunshot wound victims.
Deputies and Star EMS arrived on scene and located the victims. Paramedics from Star EMS rendered aid to the victims and then transported them to McLaren Oakland Hospital for additional treatment. Both victims are listed in stable condition.
Deputies spoke with one of the victims who stated that they had been parked in the area of Warren and Wayne Streets while they contacted a friend about the location of a party they were to attend. He stated that he heard gunshots, saw a vehicle with the doors open and 2 subjects by it. The victims fled the scene in their vehicle. The driver sustained 2 gun shot wounds, one to his thigh and one to his forearm. The passenger sustained injury to his torso and neck from glass and shrapnel.
Surveillance video was located that captured the incident. Deputies canvassed the area for the vehicle involved in the incident and located it. A traffic stop was conducted a few hours later and the 4 occupants, two 17-year-olds, a 19-year-old and an 18-year-old, all residents of Pontiac, were taken into custody without incident.
Deputies located multiple spent 9mm shell casings. An OCSO Evidence Technician arrived on the scene and processed it. Detectives arrived on scene and began their investigation. The suspects were lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending the issuance of charges.
The incident remains under investigation.
