CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI – On Friday January 23rd, 2021, two women, in their 20’s, were shot and killed by at least two suspects who were pursued by Michigan State Police until they wrecked their vehicle against a metal utility pole.
MSP Dispatch Station 20 overheard a vehicle pursuit on westbound I-94 near Metropolitan Parkway. Macomb County deputies were pursuing a suspect vehicle for a shooting/homicide which just occurred in Clinton Township.
Troopers were nearby and joined the pursuit. The pursuit continued westbound on 8 Mile Rd until the suspect vehicle crashed into a metal electrical pole in the median, just east of Gratiot Ave. The two suspects, a 19-year-old from Mt. Clemens and a 20-year-old from Warren, received injuries including broken bones and one had a previous gunshot wound after he shot himself in the leg.
No MSP patrol cars received any damage nor came in contact with any other vehicles. No members of the public or troopers were hurt. The suspects were transported to St. John’s Moross Hospital for treatment.
Officers from Warren, Eastpointe and the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office were involved in the chase until it was called off. Then an officer with Michigan State Police spotted the suspects vehicle and gave chase again shortly before 7:00p.m.
Two weapons, a long gun and a pistol, were recovered from the suspect vehicle.
The shooting incident where the two women were killed occurred at the Knottingham Apartments which are located at 23128 Wellington Crescent, near Gratiot Avenue, in Clinton Township.
