PONTIAC, MI — On Wednesday January 27th, 2021, at about 10:30 a.m., Oakland County Sheriff Deputies responded to the 100 block of Vernon Drive for a report of a dog being shot by a neighbor.

The dog’s owner stated that after he pulled into his driveway, he let his dog out of his car. The dog began running toward an unknown man standing in the front yard of a house two doors down.  When the dog was approximately 10 feet from this subject, he shot the dog.

The owner collected his dog and transported it to the Emergency Veterinarian Clinic where it received treatment for two gunshot wounds to the head and neck area which are believed to be non-life threatening.

Deputies made contact with the homeowner where the shooting took place but they denied knowing the identity of the person responsible for the abuse of the animal.  Deputies checked the house but were unable to locate the suspect.

An evidence technician responded and processed the scene.  Detectives responded to the scene to begin their investigation.  This incident remains under investigation.

Authorities are looking for an unknown black male in his 30’s.
