DETROIT, MI – The Detroit Police Department has arrested a 29-year old suspect wanted in connection to a homicide that occurred on the city’s east side.
On Friday, January 8th, 2021 at approximately 8:20 p.m., inside of a gas station located in the 18000 block of Conant, the unknown male suspect and the 38-year-old male victim were involved in an altercation when the suspect produced a weapon and fired shots, fatally wounding the victim. The suspect then fled the location on foot.
The Detroit Police Homicide Unit immediately launched an investigation, and details of the incident were sent to the public for assistance. Through relentless follow-up, and tips from members of the community, and the suspect was identified. On Wednesday, January 20th, 2021, the investigators located and arrested the suspect without incident in the 4000 block of Gladstone, then transported him to the Detroit Detention Center for processing.
A warrant package was submitted to the Wayne County’s Prosecutors Office for review and approval. On January 22nd, 2021, the suspect, identified as Isiah Clay, was charged and arraigned with: One (1) count of Homicide Second Degree, and One (1) count Felony Firearm. His bond was set at $1,000,000.
