DEARBORN, MI – Robert Lee Bailey, Jr., 49-years-old, of Detroit, has been charged in connection with the September 22nd, 2020 murder of a 49-year-old Farmington Hills man.
On September 23rd, 2020, at 5:35 p.m. Dearborn police officers were dispatched to an alley on Schlaff near Robertson and Barclay in the City of Dearborn. While there, the officers observed the lifeless body of the 49-year-old victim inside his car. He was transported to the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office where it was determined that he died of multiple gunshot wounds.
An investigation by the Dearborn Police Department determined that the victim had been shot in the early morning hours of September 22nd, 2020, at a location near Roemer and Lithgow in Dearborn.
It is alleged that Robert Lee Bailey, was armed with a handgun when he robbed the victim, shot him, and fled from the scene. On December 18th, 2020, the warrant request in the case was presented to WCPO. More complete facts and evidence in the case will be presented in court at the Preliminary Examination.
On February 2nd, 2021, Robert Bailey was charged with First Degree Murder, Felony Murder, Armed Robbery, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and four counts of Felony Firearm Second Degree.
He was arraigned and remanded to jail on the same day in 19th District Court in Dearborn. His Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for February 12, 2021.
Robert Lee Bailey is no stranger to the law and spending time in prison. He was on parole at the time these crimes were committed. He was put on parole in June of 2020. Less than 3 months later he allegedly was able to murder a second person after spending time in prison for 2nd Degree Murder. He was previously convicted of:
