The caller stated her father had gone to the area to retrieve a hunting blind at 5:00 p.m. and had not returned.

The father’s vehicle was in the area unoccupied.  Deputies arrived on scene, requested the Sheriff’s Search & Rescue Team with their quad runners and a K-9 Unit to conduct a search of the area.

The Marine Emergency Support Team and a K-9 began to conduct a search of the area.  Family members were also in the area searching. Deputies heard a male yelling from the woods.  Deputies were able to locate the subject calling for help who was the brother-in-law of the missing 55-year old man. Sadly, the brother-in-law found the victim obviously deceased.

Highland Township Fire Department arrived at the location and provided telemetry to Huron Valley Hospital. The attending physician pronounced time of death. Detectives and an Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office Investigator arrived on scene and began their investigation.  An autopsy has been scheduled and the incident remains under investigation.

There was no indication from the Sheriff’s Office that foul play was involved. This information is subject to change.
