ROMULUS, MI – Information that was released from Michigan State Police, a minor fender bender culminated in a road rage incident with shots being fired from one vehicle and that gunfire struck another vehicle that was not even involved to begin with. That would bring the total cars involved to three.

At approximately 2:50 PM, on Friday February 5th, 2021, Michigan State Police 911 was notified of a shooting that had taken place on eastbound I-94 near Vining Rd in Romulus.

Metro South troopers responded to the scene along with SIS detectives. I 94 was closed at I-275 for the investigation.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a brown vehicle was involved in a traffic altercation with a maroon vehicle. The brown car, was occupied by a black woman who pointed a weapon and opened fire towards the maroon vehicle. Instead of the bullets hitting the maroon vehicle, the bullets struck a third vehicle.  The Freeway was closed for an evidence sweep. The description of the shooter is all that police have released at this time. There is no further information that we have to be released to the public at this moment.

One of those rounds struck the front passenger in the right knee. The driver pulled to the shoulder and called for help. Troopers administered first aid to the victim.
