SHEPHERD, MI – On Tuesday, February 2nd , 2021, at approximately 7:15 AM, Troopers from the Michigan State Police Mt. Pleasant Post were dispatched to the 10,000 block of South Mission Road in Shepherd for the report of a mother who had a cord wrapped around her two-month-old baby’s neck.
Troopers arrived on scene and conducted an initial investigation, the baby was treated and released at the hospital.
On February 4th, Troopers arrested the woman, 21-year-old Skyler Warner, of Shepherd. She was arraigned on February 5th in the Isabella County District Court on the following charges:
- 3 counts of Child Abuse 2nd Degree,
- Domestic Violence,
- 1 count of Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm Less Than Murder Including Strangulation.
Troopers were assisted by the Central Michigan University Police Department, Michigan Department of
Health and Human Services, MMR Ambulance, and Mid-Michigan Medical Center. The investigation is ongoing by the MSP Mt. Pleasant Post and there is no additional information at this time.
