MEMPHIS, MI – On February 10th, 2021, The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Memphis Police Department requesting their assistance in the investigation of a suspected child abuse case. Later on that same date, Justin McCoy, 26-years-old, out of Memphis was arrested for child abuse.
On Wednesday, a 4 year old boy was brought into the Detroit Medical Center Children’s Hospital with multiple injuries, including injuries to his arm and stomach region, which required surgery.
Children’s Protective Services also became involved. The child and his mother were interviewed. Macomb County Detectives located Justin McCoy and placed him under arrest for an active traffic warrant out of Eastpointe. McCoy was lodged at the Macomb County Jail.
This incident report was presented to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant with one count of Child Abuse – First Degree was issued for McCoy.
McCoy was arraigned on 2/12/21 for the above charge in the 42-1 Romeo District Court. McCoy was given a $350,000 cash surety bond. If released, McCoy is to have GPS tether and no contact with children or victims. He is scheduled to return to court on 2/23/21 at 9:00am for a probable cause conference.
