MORELY, MI – On February 10th, 2021, a person placed a call concerning a man who had his truck stuck in the 4000 block of 230th Ave in Aetna Township. The driver of that vehicle was trying to garner assistance to get his vehicle on the road again.

The caller also advised the man appeared to be high on drugs. Upon contact with Deputies the Newaygo man, identified as Al Daniel Thompson, 28-years-old, of Newaygo, entered the pickup and attempted to get away.  Deputies were able to remove him from the truck after he threatened to shoot himself. 

Thompson was taken into custody. His vehicle was towed and impounded.

Al Thompson was arraigned in the 77th District Court on the following charges:

  • Possession of Meth
  • Felonious Assault on a Police Officer
  • Operating Under the Influence of Drugs – Meth
  • Conditional Bond Release Violation – He was out on bond during this incident – Bond revoked

Thompson remains in custody in the Mecosta County Jail with a $100,000 surety bond.
