FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, MI – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office along with Michigan State Police are investigating a homicide that occurred on February 14th, 2021, at approximately 11:30 pm in Frenchtown Township.

On February 14th, 2021, at approximately 11:30 pm, Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the Quality Inn located at 1225 N. Dixie Hwy in Frenchtown Township on the report of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, deputies located a man dead in the parking lot. Another man was located in the hotel lobby and was taken into custody without incident.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the two men had been together earlier in the evening. For unknown reasons, the two became involved in an altercation which led to the stabbing.

The deceased subject is a 25-year-old Monroe man. His identity is being withheld pending notification of family.

The other subject, also a 25 year old Monroe man, was treated for injuries sustained in the altercation at an area hospital. The subject was lodged in the Monroe County Jail. His identity is being withheld pending a charging decision by the Prosecuting Attorney.

The Michigan State Police, City of Monroe Police Department, Monroe Community Ambulance, and the Frenchtown Fire Department all assisted at the scene.
