MEMPHIS, MI – On March 17th, 2021, the Macomb County Sheriff’s received a request from Memphis Police to assist with a shooting that had just occurred outside of a building on Main St. south of Bordman Rd.
A 57 year old man had entered the Memphis Police Department stating he had just shot a man outside of the building. The victim, after being shot, had gone to a nearby business who called 911. The victim was transported to the hospital.
The suspect, now identified Kirk Stewart, 57-years-old, of Memphis, was cooperative, and was transported to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office and is being lodged for Assault with Intent to Murder. The victim, a 57 year old man, from Fort Gratiot was shot one time in the right leg. The victim remains at the hospital in stable condition at this time. The suspect and the victim are familiar with one another.
On 3/19/21, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office presented this incident to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office. Kirk Stewart charged with one count of Assault With Intent to Murder (felony). Stewart was arraigned in the 41-1 District Court of Romeo on the listed charge and given a one million dollar bond. Stewart is scheduled to return to court on 3/31/21 at 1:00pm for a probable cause conference.
