DETROIT, MI – Taha Shitawi, 34-years-old, of Dearborn, has been formally charged in connection with the stabbing of eight people, a 32-year-old man, two 31-year-old men, a 25-year-old man, all of Dearborn. A 29-year-old woman, of Shelby Township, was also a stabbing victim.
On March 21, 2021, approximately 3:30 a.m.it is alleged that Taha Shitawi had a verbal argument with several people inside the location. He went outside of the lounge and continued arguing. It is alleged that during the verbal argument Shitawi pulled out a knife and stabbed the eight victims before fleeing the scene. 911 dispatched officers to the scene, and medics transported the victims to a local hospital for treatment. The investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to Taha Shitawi’s arrest on March 22, 2021.
Taha Shitawi has been charged with five counts each of the following crimes: Assault with Intent to Murder; Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm; and Felonious Assault. He was arraigned today in 36th District Court and received a $350,000/10% bond. His Probable Cause Conference is on April 5, 2021, and his Preliminary Examination in on April 12, 2021 before Judge Kenyetta Stanford Jones.
