LINCOLN PARK, MI – A Lincoln Park woman, 28-years-old, has been arrested after a newborn infant was found discarded in a bag in a wooded area on March 6th, 2021.

The woman was arrested on March 30th.

On Saturday March 6th, shortly after 9:45 pm, there were reports being circulated that the body of a dead newborn had been found in a dumpster behind the offices of Wright & Filippis located at 4050 Fort St. The newborn was not discovered inside of the dumpster police said.

The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office has been presented the case and is determining the charges, if any, that will be filed against the woman.

Police noted that Michigan’s Safe Haven laws permit a parent to surrender a newborn not more than 72 hours old, to an emergency medical service provider, such as a fire department, hospital or police station.
