GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, MI – On Wednesday, March 31st, 2021, at approximately 11:30AM, troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Cadillac Post were dispatched to a business in Acme township for a report of domestic violence. The victim alleged she had been assaulted the night prior and forced to drive to multiple atm machines.
The suspect, 20-year-old Cyrus Anthony Patson from Traverse City, is alleged to have had the victim drive to multiple atm machines to retrieve money from her bank account. The following morning when Patson dropped her off at the store where she worked, he threatened her with a pocket knife stating he would cause her harm if she called law enforcement. Patson then drove off in the victim’s car without permission.
Troopers searched known residences for Cyrus Patson but were unable to locate him. Troopers learned Patson may have purchased or was in possession of narcotics. The Traverse Narcotics Team (TNT) was contacted for assistance in trying to locate him. TNT and troopers set up surveillance in the event the suspect showed up at the victim’s place of work.
Detectives observed Patson driving the victim’s vehicle in a parking lot and he was taken into custody. Patson was in possession of narcotics at the time of his arrest and lodged in the Grand Traverse County Jail.
Cyrus Patson was arraigned in the 86th District Court in Grand Traverse County for one count Domestic Violence, one count Possession of Methamphetamine, one count Possession Cocaine Less Than 25 Grams, one count Maintaining a Drug House, and one count Resisting and Obstructing Police. His bond was set at $25,000 10% cash surety.
