ATTICA TOWNSHIP, MI – On Saturday April 10th, 2021, at 12:12 AM, Lapeer County Sheriff’s Deputies were actively conducting traffic enforcement (stationary radar) upon Bowers Road near Five Lakes Road in Attica. A 2011 Chev Malibu, being driven by Michael Munger, 40-years-old, of Attica, was seen traveling east on Bowers Road. The stationary radar displayed a speed of 86 MPH within a posted 55 MPH zone.

Deputies were able to get into position and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. It is alleged that the vehicle failed to stop for deputies and increased it speeds to approximately 100 MPH. The pursuit continued east on Bowers Road to the Lake Pleasant Road intersection in Attica. The pursuit continued south on Lake Pleasant Road and then west on Imlay City Road for a distance. After approximately 4 miles and 2 minutes, the vehicle did eventually stop and Michael Munger was taken into custody by deputies without event.

It was determined that the driver had a valid driving status and neither alcohol nor drugs were involved. The driver was lodged at the Lapeer County Jail.

The investigation was presented to the Lapeer County Prosecutor’s Office. Formal criminal charges of Fleeing and Eluding 4th Degrees were issued. The driver was arraigned in the 71-A District Court on Tuesday 04/13/2021. A personal bond of $25,000 was set with next scheduled court date of 04/23/2021.
