WEST BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI – Two men, a 31-year-old man from West Bloomfield Township and a 33-year-old man from Lapeer, were out in a sailboat on Union Lake enjoying the afternoon when their vessel capsized throwing both of them into the cold water at about 6:45pm.

On Tuesday April 13th, 2021, the West Bloomfield Township Police Department and Fire Department  requested the assistance of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol and Water Rescue Unit on Union Lake. They responded to the report of a capsized boat with two subjects in the water.

Both boaters had made it safely back to shore as the OCSO Water Rescue Unit members arrived on the scene.  The OCSO Water Rescue Unit members assisted with the recovery of the 18-foot sailboat that had capsized due to heavy winds. No injuries were reported.
