WEXFORD COUNTY, MI The Michigan State Police (MSP) Cadillac Post was contacted in September of 2020 to investigate an embezzlement complaint at The Home Depot in Cadillac.

Loss prevention reported a former employee had allowed an acquaintance to leave the store on several occasions with unpaid merchandise while working as a cashier. This occurred on at least ten separate occasions totaling over $3,000 in store loss. Surveillance footage was obtained and several attempts to interview the suspect, 47-year-old Melody Lynn Slocumb from Cadillac, were attempted. She had moved since leaving The Home Depot.

A report was submitted to the Wexford County Prosecutor’s Office for review and an arrest warrant was authorized. The MSP Seventh District Fugitive Team assisted in locating Slocumb, who was now residing in Boon Township. She was arrested at her place of employment on April 14, 2021 and lodged in the Wexford County Jail.

Slocumb was arraigned yesterday in the 84th District Court in Wexford County on one count Embezzlement by Agent or Trustee $1,000 or more but less than $20,000. She was given a PR bond. Her next scheduled court appearance is on April 27, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.
