DETROIT, MI- On Saturday, April 17th, 2021, at approximately 11:15 p.m., in the area of E. Warren and Maxwell Avenues, a Dodge Durango and a Dodge Charger collided in the intersection.
The impact to the Durango was so hard that the vehicle landed on the front steps of Second Timothy Baptist Church at the corner Maxwell and Warren. It was at that time that the vehicle caught fire. Witnesses have stated that they saw the two vehicles drag racing before they hit the church. The witness went on to say that the vehicles were being driven well over 100 miles per hour.
The victims, a man and woman who are yet to be identified, were in the Durango. They were transported to a local area hospital by medics where they were pronounced Dead Upon Arrival.
