ROSCOMMON COUNTY, MI – Amber Maldonado clearly should not have the responsibility to care for children after an investigation by Michigan State Police found that she may have very well put her children in harms way because she allegedly kicked her children out of their home while she hosted a party.
On Sunday, April 18th, 2021, at approximately 3:40 a.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Houghton Lake Post were dispatched to a residence on Polaris Street in Richfield Township. A child had called 911 and alleged he was assaulted by his mother.
Troopers arrived at the residence and were met on the front porch by the victim. The boy alleged his mother had kicked him and his sister out of the home for the night so she could host a party. They had nowhere to go and when they came home, they got into an argument and she assaulted him and his sister. The mother, identified as 34-year-old Amber Marie Maldonado, stated she got in an argument with the children when they returned home early while she was having a party.
Richfield Township EMS was called to the scene and treated one of the children for injuries. Maldonado was arrested and lodged in the Roscommon County Jail. The children were turned over to their biological father.
Maldonado was arraigned in the 82nd District Court in Roscommon County on April 19, 2021 on two counts Third-Degree Child Abuse. Her bond was set at $10,000 10%. Her next scheduled court appearance is on May 10, 2021.
