PONTIAC, MI – On Thursday April 22nd, 2021 at 1:00AM, Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies, the Waterford Regional Fire Department (WRFD)  and Star EMS responded to S. Anderson Street for an assist/medical call.

The complainant, the mother, advised that her 18-month-old child had been burned by a hot tea cup that the little girl reached up and tipped over from the counter.

Upon arrival, deputies observed that the child had visible burns to her face and arms. Paramedics from Star EMS transported the child to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital where it was determined that the child had suffered from second degree burns. She also sustained injury to her left eye/cornea and to her left ear. 

Detectives arrived on the scene and began their investigationIt was determined through the course of the investigation that the child had not been intentionally harmedChild Protective Services was notified of the incident. The investigation continues and child is still hospitalized and was transferred to Children’s Hospital in Detroit.

VICTIM INFORMATION:  18 month old female, resident of the City of Pontiac
