DETROIT, MI – On Saturday April 24th, 2021, at approximately 9:00p.m., Detroit Police officers were on a traffic investigation in the area of Hayes and Houston Whittier when the driver, a 45-year-old woman, of the vehicle being investigated, suffered a medical emergency.

Officers immediately rendered aid then proceeded to convey the driver to the hospital for treatment. As the officers were traveling south on Chalmers approaching the I-94 Service Drive with lights and siren, a Chevy Malibu driven by a 25-year old woman, traveling east on I-94 stopped in the intersection. As a result, the officers collided into her vehicle causing damage. Additional units and medics responded to the scene.

The driver of the Malibu was transported to the hospital by medics and listed in stable condition. The 45-year old female along with one of the officers, seated in the passenger seat, were conveyed to the hospital, both were listed in stable condition. The circumstances surrounding this accident are being investigated.
