DETROIT, MI – Detroit Police officers located the baby and vehicle in an alley near Crane and Canfield.
The baby is safe and was evaluated by medics and reunited with his parents. Officers were also able to identify and locate a 35-year old male suspect involved in this incident. The suspect was taken into custody in the 1000 block of Holcomb. The suspect is also a known person to the couple.

On Saturday April 24th, 2021, at approximately 10 p.m., in the 9300 block of E. Jefferson, a couple, a 28- year-old man and 29-year-old woman, were sitting in their vehicle, a silver Buick Lucerne 4dr., plate EHZ9921, in front of the location with their 2-month old child in the back seat when, a male suspect allegedly, armed with a handgun, approached their vehicle on foot.
The mother and father jumped out of the vehicle and the mother exchanged gunfire with the suspect who then entered the vehicle and fled north on McClellan with the couple’s 2-month-old baby still inside.
The suspect is described as black male, 35-years old, 5’5”, 200lbs., bald wearing a blue and pink hoody, armed with a handgun.
The baby, Zavion McNeal, is described 2-months old male, 20 inches, 14lbs., wearing a white onesie, blue t-shirt sitting in a Mickey Mouse car seat in the rear of the vehicle.
Detroit Police are actively investigating and searching for the baby. If anyone has any information pertaining to the whereabouts of the baby they are asked to call Detroit Police.
