MUSKEGON TOWNSHIP, MI – Troopers from the MSP Grand Rapids Post are investigating a fatal crash involving a single vehicle, which occurred on east bound Skyline Dr. near US-31 at approximately 1:45 AM on May 7th, 2021.

The Muskegon City Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle assist on Memorial Causeway near Skyline Dr. When the Muskegon City Officer arrived on scene the vehicle fled east bound on Skyline Dr. in the west bound lanes. Muskegon City did not pursue and lost visual contact with the vehicle. Muskegon Central dispatch then advised they received a call from OnStar that the vehicle had been involved in a crash on Skyline Drive near US-31.

The scene investigation showed the single vehicle, driven by a 40-year-old Twin Lake Man, was traveling at a high rate of speed in the wrong way on Skyline Dr. The vehicle was traveling east in the west bound lanes when it left the roadway to the left. The vehicle then traveled down an embankment and struck a tree.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was transported to Mercy Health Hospital by ProMed EMS where he was later pronounced as deceased.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Grand Rapids Post were assisted at the scene of the traffic crash by the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Department, Muskegon Township PD, Muskegon City PD, Muskegon Township Fire Department and ProMed EMS.
