ALPENA, MI – On Monday, March 15th, 2021, a trooper from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Alpena Post was called to a residence on US-23 Hwy in Alpena Township for a breaking and entering complaint.

The homeowner recently purchased the home and was in the process of renovating it. The homeowner worked on the home the evening prior and when he returned the next morning, he noticed several tools missing inside and a broken screen on the rear window of the home. The perpetrators had gained entry through the window. The investigation led to the arrest of a former tenant, 19-year-old Cheyenne Marie Villeneuve from Alpena.

On March 29, 2021, an arrest warrant was issued for Villeneuve. She was taken into custody on March 30th and lodged in the Alpena County Jail. Two other accomplices, a 23-year-old Vassar man and 17-year-old Alpena woman, have recently been charged with Breaking and Entering – Illegal Entry Without Owner’s Permission, a misdemeanor. They were both cited and are awaiting arraignment.

Villeneuve was arraigned in the 88th District Court in Alpena for one count Home Invasion Third Degree and one count Malicious Destruction of Property. She was given a $7,500 10% bond. Her next scheduled court appearance is on May 11, 2021.

Cheyenne Villeneuve was on probation at the time of her arrest. She was convicted in a plea agreement in April of 2020 for Police Officer – Assault/Resist/Obstruct in Oscoda County.
