DETROIT, MI – The Detroit Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating and male suspect wanted in connection to a Fatal Shooting that occurred on the city’s west side.
On May 22, 2021 in the 13200 block of Whitcomb at approximately 7:10p.m. A 66-year-old man and a 29-yer old man had a verbal altercation, which turned physical. The 29-year old man fired multiple gunshots at the victim fatally wounding him. After the shooting the suspect fled in a newer model tan colored Buick Regal. An investigation was immediately conducted, the suspect has been identified as Keith Appling, a 29-year-old man, 6”2” 200 lbs., brown eyes, black hair.
The suspect is considered armed and dangerous.
The life of Keith Appling has spiraled out of control after playing professional basketball. In July 2017, Appling was sentenced to one year in county jail and four years of probation for carrying a concealed weapon and resisting a police officer. In February 2020, Appling was charged with delivery or manufacture of 19 grams of heroin in a car he was attempting to sell.
