Brandon Township, MI – On Sunday May 30th, 2021, at 7:37 p.m., Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Brandon Township F.D. responded to the 600 block of Nelson William Drive on the report of a 2-year-old child who had been injured in a tractor accident. The caller advised that family members had begun to administer CPR.

Upon arrival, Deputies immediately began rendering life-saving measures to the victim until the BTFD arrived on the scene. Paramedics took over care of the victim. Paramedics transported the victim to Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc Twp. where he was pronounced deceased by a physician.

The 33-year-old man who was the driver of the tractor stated he had been giving his 2-year-old male cousin from Sterling Heights and another 2 year old male cousin a ride on his tractor when the child fell off. The driver admitted to drinking prior to driving the tractor. He was taken into custody and a blood draw was conducted. Laboratory results are pending.

Detectives, Evidence Tech and an Investigator from Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office arrived and began their respective investigations. The Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of the deceased. An autopsy was performed on Sunday with the cause of death being blunt force trauma. The investigation results will be forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office for review once the blood results are returned.
