PONTIAC, MI – Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 700 block of Kenilworth Avenue on the report of four or five subjects shooting from a SUV which then collided with a parked vehicle before fleeing the area. 

Upon arrival, Deputies located several rifle and handgun shell casings in the roadway. One vehicle had been struck by gunfire several times. Two residences had been struck by gunfire. No suspects or victims had been located at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Operation Center was advised by staff from McLaren Oakland Hospital’s ER that a gunshot wound victim had arrived for treatment. Shortly after, the Sheriff’s Operation Center was advised by staff from St. Joseph Hospital’s ER that two gunshot victims had arrived for treatment. As Deputies were responding to the respective hospitals to begin their investigations, the responsible SUV was observed parked at the Old Oak Square Apartment complex. It had extensive front-end damage, multiple gunshot holes, blood on the driver’s side seat area and a shell casing had been found under the driver’s seat.

Detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation. A 19-year-old resident of Rochester Hills who is identified as Victim/Suspect #1 who was at McLaren Oakland Hospital stated he had been alone in his SUV driving on Kenilworth Avenue when he heard gunfire. He realized he had been shot in the upper left thigh, collided with something, drove away from the area and parked his vehicle at an apartment complex. He stated he ran up to a random subject and was given a ride to the hospital. The subject who had transported Victim/Suspect #1 to the hospital stated to Deputies he had heard a knock on his door and when he opened it, saw his brother’s friend along with three unknown black male subjects wearing masks. Victim/Suspect #1 stated to him that he had been shot and needed to be transported to the hospital. The three subjects wearing masks fled the area on foot. Victim/Suspect #1 was treated and released from the hospital.

A 19-year-old male resident of the City of Pontiac, identified as Victim/Suspect #2 and a 17-year-old male from Clinton Township, identified as Victim/Suspect #3 were both at St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital stated they had been outside on Kenilworth Avenue when they were shot at. Both sustained gunshot wounds to their lower legs. They were uncooperative and gave little information about the incident. Both are listed in stable condition. 

The preliminary investigation revealed that had been an exchange of gunfire between the subject in the SUV and the subjects who had been outside on Kenilworth Avenue. The investigation is ongoing.
