BIG RAPIDS, MI – On Saturday May 29th, 2021, at 12:17 p.m., a 56-year-old woman from Big Rapids was traveling northbound on 205th Ave near Arthur Rd in a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer when she ran off the roadway to the right, over corrected and rolled the vehicle several times.

The woman identified as Kayrl Lee Addington was pinned inside the vehicle. She had to be extracted by Big Rapids Township Rescue.  Kayrl Addington was transported to Big Rapids ER by Mecosta County EMS with severe injuries. She was later flown by Aero-Med to a Grand Rapids Hospital with life threatening injuries.

Sadly, Kayrl Addington passed away at a Grand Rapids Hospital on Sunday May 30th, 2021, from the injuries she sustained in the accident. 

The Mecosta County Sheriff’s office would like to offer their deepest condolences to the family and friends of Kayrl.

Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in this incident. 

The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Meceola Central Dispatch, Big Rapids Township Rescue, Mecosta County EMS, and Curries Towing.
