TROY, MI – A Detroit woman with an apparent drug problem was arrested after she stole over $600 worth of items from The Home Depot in Troy located at 1177 Coolidge Highway on Sunday May 23rd, 2021.
At approximately 4:27 PM, Troy Police officers assisted the business’ Loss Prevention Officer in apprehending a 43-year-old woman from Detroit who left the business with $601.20 of store merchandise that she did not pay for.
The suspect was arrested and while being searched, officers located six capped syringes and a pipe used to smoke crack cocaine in her purse. She was transported to the lock-up facility where a zip-lock bag was located inside a stick of woman’s deodorant. The bag contained a tan/white powdery substance believed to be heroin. While being processed, the suspect’s health began to deteriorate due to withdrawal symptoms. Medical personnel were summoned to the lock-up facility and she was transported to a local medical facility for treatment.
Warrants for Retail Fraud 2nd Degree, Possession of Heroin, and Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia where be sought through the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.
It is with great hope and prayer that the suspect gets help that she evidently needs. Addiction can and does destroy lives each and every day. This is her chance to take any help that may be offered to turn this tragic case into something that she can be proud of and be an example to others in the same position.
