PLAINWELL, MI – On Thursday June 3rd, 2021, Deputies from the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the Meijer store on M-89 in Gun Plain Township about a male subject who had gotten into a woman’s car and exposed himself to her.
The victim stated the man approached her while she was sitting in her car and asked her for directions. While responding to him, the victim stated the man got into the backseat of her vehicle and began telling her how beautiful she was while exposing his genitalia. The victim exited the car and began yelling at the subject to get out of her car. The man fled the scene but was stopped by responding deputies.
The suspect was identified as Timothy Scott Popenhagen, 19-years-old, from Battle Creek. At the time he was driving a dark blue Chevrolet Cobalt. Inside Popenhagen’s vehicle Deputies found a loaded handgun.
Timothy Popenhagen was also identified as the person involved in a similar incident in the nearby city of Otsego earlier in the day. Timothy Popenhagen has been arraigned on multiple offenses related to the incidents, including: Indecent Exposure, Aggravated Indecent Exposure and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
