HARPER WOODS, MI – Cory Quintae Hawkins, 21-years-old, of Harper Woods, has been charged in connection with the homicide of his girlfriend’s eight-month-old boy.
On August 26, 2019, at a residence in the 20940 block of Hampton Road in Harper Woods, it is alleged that Cory Hawkins was caring for the infant an fatally assaulted him. It is further alleged that several hours later, the child was unresponsive and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. On the same day at approximately 11:20 p.m., Harper Woods police were dispatched to a local hospital for a report of a suspicious death of an infant.
Medical examiners determined that the cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma to the head. More complete facts and evidence will be revealed in court at the preliminary examination in the case.
He was arraigned and remanded to jail without bond today in 32A District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for July 7, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. via Zoom. The Preliminary Examination is scheduled for July 14, 2021 at 1:30 p.m.
Based on records from the Michigan Department of corrections, Cory Hawkins was on probation when he faced the judge today. He has previous convictions for:

- Accessory After the Fact to a Felony
- Police Officer – Fleeing – Third Degree – Vehicle Code
