MT CLEMENS, MI – On June 18th, 2021, at approximately 10:40pm, Macomb County Sheriff’s deputies responded to southbound Gratiot Ave just south of Cass Ave for a bicyclist that appeared to have been hit by a vehicle.
A passerby saw the bicyclist on the ground and called 911. The passerby did not witness the crash. The bicyclist, Ross Richards, 52-years-old, of Mt. Clemens, was transported to the hospital and died the following day.
During the investigation, vehicle wreckage was recovered from the scene. It was believed the vehicle wreckage belonged to a Ford truck. Investigators were able to collect video and located a Ford truck in the area. The vehicle and its owner were identified. The vehicle was located, and damage was observed that was consistent with the crash. A search warrant was conducted on the vehicle and additional evidence was located.
This report was presented to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office and a four count warrant was authorized on Adrian Williamson, 23-years-old, of Detroit:
- Count 1: Operating – License suspended, Revoked, Denied – Causing Death (felony)
- Count 2: Failure to Stop at Scene of Accident – When at Fault – Resulting in Death (felony)
- Count 3: Failure to Stop at Scene of Accident Resulting in Serious Impairment or Death (felony)
- Count 4: Moving Violation Causing Death (misdemeanor)
Williamson was arraigned on 6/25/21 in the Clinton Township 41-B District Court on the above listed charges. He was given a $50,000 (10%) cash surety bond with a GPS tether prior to release. Williamson is scheduled to return to 7/6/21 at 1:00pm preliminary cause conference.
