WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, MI – On June 30th, 2021, at approximately 2:40pm, Macomb County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the PNC Bank located at 6099 26 Mile Rd for an armed robbery that had just occurred.
Deputies arrived on scene to find the suspect had already fled the location with an undisclosed amount of money. The bank was open for business with seven people inside when the robbery took place. No persons were injured. It was stated that the suspect entered, produced a weapon and demand for money, and then fled the scene once money was turned over to him.
Suspect information was collected, and a search of the area was done. Video surveillance was requested from the bank and near-by businesses. A tip was received with a suspect name that matched the description and lived in the area. Suspect given is also on parole and has a criminal history involving bank robbery and home invasion.
A search warrant was done on the suspect’s residence and numerous items, including a handgun, linking him to this crime were located. The suspect was not home at the is time and was unable to be located.
On July 1st, 2021, a three-count warrant was issued for Michael Salami by the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office:
Count 1: Bank Robbery (felony)
Count 2: Weapons – Firearms – Possession by Felon (felony)
Count 3: Weapons – Felony Firearm (felony)
The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office is actively seeking Michael Salami. His is described as a white male, 25 years of age, 5’3”, slender build with brown hair and brown eyes. It is unknown if Salami is armed. He does not have his own transportation.
