CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI – Joseph Olceski , 47-years-old, of Chesterfield Township was arraigned on 2 felony charges after he allegedly shot and killed a 50 year-old man early Monday morning after an argument broke out during a 4th of July celebration.
Chesterfield Twp Police Officers were dispatched to the 48000 Block of Jamaica Ave in the early morning hours of July 5th, 2021 for a reported shooting. Officers found a 50 year old Chesterfield Twp male with apparent gunshot wounds lying in a front yard. He was transported to an area hospital and later was pronounced deceased. It appears neighbors and friends gathered for a Fourth of July celebration involving fireworks, alcohol and drugs. A physical altercation developed that led to the subjects involved retrieving firearms.
Police Officers arrested Joseph Olceski who is believed to be responsible for the shooting and death of the victim. Officers also arrested another 48 year old Chesterfield Twp man on other charges related to the shooting. Both subjects were lodged at the Macomb County Jail awaiting their arraignments at 42-2 District Court.
The Michigan State Police Crime Lab was called to the scene to assist Chesterfield Twp Police Evidence Technicians.
Joseph Olceski was arraigned on the following charges:
- Second Degree Homicide
- Felony Firearm
He is currently being held at the Macomb County Jail on a $250,000 Bond awaiting his July 15, 2021 Probable Cause Hearing that will start at 9:00 AM.
The second man was released from the Macomb County jail with no criminal charges.
